Bump2Bubba Picnic
On June 30th Bump2bubba held a charity picnic in Blackheath in aid
of Foundation of the Study of Infant Death (Cot Death).
Lots of local and national business donated some very generous prizes,
so a big thank-you to the following:
Not even the rain could stop the big turn out of over 100 parents-to-be, mum’s dad’s and babies. Everyone seemed to be having a good time with the soft play and sing song in between lots of eating and catching up.
The raffle raised a total of £454.79, so thank you to everyone who bought tickets. |

HypnoBirthing
I am now trained as a HypnoBirthing Practitioner. What is HyponBirthing?
It is a complete birth education programme that teaches simple self-hypnosis,
relaxation and breathing techniques, allowing an atmosphere of calm
relaxation, free of fear and tension for a more comfortable birth.
To date there have been two HypnoBabies born.
Baby
Leon - Born - 6th May 2007
"I can honestly
say I actually enjoyed the birth process. It was an incredible
experience. My husband said at one point he couldn't even
tell when I was having my contractions I remained so relaxed
throughout. After I gave birth to my healthy 7lb 7oz little
boy without any medical intervention I felt elated and proud
of myself. I still can't quite believe what I achieved." Mabel. |

Baby Rosanna - Born - 1st June
07
It was just how to train yourself to go to deep relaxation and to
be able to visualise positive outcomes - something I found hard initially,
but when I was brought through the scripts, I found it easy to concentrate
on your voice and it became easier as we progressed through the course.
 |
"I used the breathing techniques loads during the first stage and there's no doubt in my mind that these made it fairly ok to cope with. When the midwife came round to check me he was pretty impressed that I'd got to 8 cms dilated with a tens and my hypnobirthing techniques.
The 2nd stage was definitely
more intense for me; however my partner came into his own
with massage, encouragement and affirmations. So even though
there's no point in pretending this stage wasn't challenging,
I think it would have been a lot harder without hypnobirthing.
I also found the visualisation techniques worked well for
me, as we visualised the labour taking 7 hours and it ended
up at 7 and a half!" Donna-Maria. |
Trip to Cossington
Park
Class of October 06 went on holiday
together in June 07
I love hearing from couples
about what they have been up to and it was great to hear about
one antenatal group that went on holiday together recently.
| "Six families from our Bump2Bubba
class decided to endeavour on a weekend away together at Cossington
Park, Somerset. We hired a lovely authentic old manor house,
complete with squeaky floorboards and gorgeous grounds. With
so many 'baby sitters' on hand we all enjoyed the chance to
take it easy, play football, walk and sit around the large
kitchen table and chat or play games and once the babies were
nicely tucked up in their Grobags, the wine flowed readily!
With the exception of one, however, none of the babes slept
through the night and once one was awake, they were all awake.
Consequently, on Monday morning all the parents were silently
grouped around the kitchen table clutching coffee cups to chests
whilst the babes |
|
chattered away to each
other in another room playing happily. It was absolutely worth the
effort, a great opportunity for us all to spend some quality time together
and we look forward to all catching up again soon." Kate, Matt & Baby
Amiee.
Baby Massage & Rhythm Kids
Want to understand your baby better? Then you may want to learn
baby massage.
Baby massage promotes nurturing touch and communication to enhance
parent/baby communication. Baby massage teaches parents the importance
of asking permission, how to read their baby’s cues and behavioural
states, helping parents to learn about their baby.
 |
There are many benefits of baby massage to both parent and child. These include:
• helping parents and baby to relax,
• baby to sleep better,
• aid baby’s digestion, help relieve colic,
• strengthen baby’s immune system,
• develop baby’s muscle tone & co-ordination.
|
If you want something a bit different or
as babies get older baby massage can be adapted. Rhythm Kids is
music and movement for babies and beyond. By combining massage,
music and movement these exercises can hold a baby’s attention beyond the crawling stage and with
an interactive and practical style it gives parents the opportunity
to support their child’s development.
These sessions are run on Wednesday mornings
in Brockley – for
more information or to book please contact me.
A fond farewell to Emma, Marco and Baby Luca. They are off to start
a new life in Australia. Good luck in your new adventure.
Best wishes,
Tania.
